During my Freshman year at the University of Kentucky, I became aware that my favorite activity was a conversation.
Sitting at The Campus Corner Grill or KLair Restaurant or The Student Center cafe, I was fascinated by the stories students I had just met would tell of their home towns.
Later I managed a tobacco shop at Fayette Mall here in Lexington, Kentucky named A. David Ltd.
It was modeled after an old English smoke shop. We sold pipes, tobacco, cigars, and gifts. No cigarettes.
We had a table with a chess set on it, and we encouraged people to sit, smoke, play chess, and talk.
Many interesting conversations occurred at that table and at the counter where I showed pipes and weighed out tobacco on a balance scale.
Many of those conversations were so interesting that I thought that they should have been recorded and played on the radio.
Now, we have podcasts and I produce one named The Break Out Session Podcast.
Here I finally get to have fascinating conversations to tape and share.
