Hello, 2022. Testing 1 2 3.
This is pretty much a stream of consciousness post so please read with caution. It is not edited.
I’m working on getting back up to speed with blogging and podcasting on The Break Out Session.
I am going through the tutorials on the Elegant Themes site reminding myself of how the DIVI Theme works. It’s interesting to go back and read the posts that I made when I began this about five years ago. I remember spending a lot of time trying to figure out how the blogging and podcasting platforms were structured and how to add writing and audio files to them. Now I’m not starting exactly from square one but I am having to relearn just about every step. And to make it more difficult, the platforms have been updated and changed. So some of the technical moves that I do remember are no longer valid and those seem to be the ones that stick in my mind and have to be replaced with new steps.
As I’ve been thinking about possibly relaunching The Break Out Session I wake up in the night questioning what I’m doing and why. But then once I’m up, had breakfast and coffee, and seeing the sun come up I start to think that maybe this is a good hobby for me and what harm can it do as long as I take it all “in stride” and don’t let it become a burden on my time with my family or stop other worthwhile activities such as reading, meeting with friends, exercise and getting out and about.
A couple of habits I’ve been working on for 2022 are writing 500 words each day in Scrivener and exercising for an hour every day. So far I have done both of those for the first week of 2022.
Now that I’m sitting at my desk at 9:15 am on Saturday, January 8th, 2022 writing this first blog post of the year, not remembering how this WordPress tool works, not knowing if I can even successfully post this, writing as fast as I can without editing, and believing that no one will read this anyway, it is becoming a little bit of fun.
My goal is to have my hobbies be satisfying and rewarding. It could be that getting The Break Out Session active again could be both of those. As I’m writing this right now I’m thinking that my goal for this post is to have it be 500 words long so that I can see what that length of a post looks like and then set a word count goal for future posts. Maybe writing 500 words a day in a Scrivener-based journal will give me the baseline skill to write one blog post a week for posting here.
Once I take the pressure off of not even thinking that anyone will be reading it and that it doesn’t matter because it is for me to use to practice and that I am my audience at this point, then why not have some fun and see where this goes. So, here we go 2022.
I will find some rewarding and satisfying hobbies to enjoy.
